A question I've been asking lately.

Ashley Payne

Marketing Coach

There's a question that's been coming up a lot in my conversations with businesses and non-profits lately as we're talking about their current challenges. It got me thinking. If they're having these challenges, then chances are you probably are too.

"Are you diversifying your marketing?"

It seems like a simple question, but it's one that many people don't spend enough time thinking about. That question often leads to the following questions.

  • Where is your audience showing up?
  • Are you showing up there, too?
  • Are you using data to back up your strategy?

The truth is, if you can't confidently answer those questions, then you're probably wasting a lot of time (and maybe money) on marketing that isn't working.

Please don't fall for the fantasy that if you post a few times a week on Instagram or Facebook that you're going to have a flood of customers knocking on your door. You need to understand who your customer is, show up where they're at, and hit them with what they want (hint: they want more than just product promos and sales pitches).

A huge part of what makes a successful marketing strategy is solid data. I know what you're thinking - you didn't start a business to do data analysis and research. But the reality is, if you don't have data-backed strategies, then you're just throwing the pasta at the wall hoping something will stick. Trust me, I've been there before, and I know the frustration and burnout that comes with feeling uncertain about your marketing strategy.

So, before you post that next photo on Instagram, write that blog on your website, or send out that email newsletter, ask yourself those questions and start looking into the data that will provide the answers.

My success didn't happen overnight. I spent years researching and developing marketing strategies. After watching others in my community struggling with their marketing, I started Cardinal Creative Strategies as a way to educate and empower businesses and non-profits with the tools and strategies needed for effective marketing.

When you're ready to move on from guesswork and start making meaningful moves with your marketing, give me a shout, and I'll add you to the list to be notified when my next small group coaching cohort opens up!
